Tom Hanks-5-1024x767Hanks his next film role was that of an astronaut and commanding officer Jim Lovell in the 1995 docudrama Apollo 13. This reunited Hanks with Ron Howard. The film was widely lauded by critics, in addition to the performances of the whole group (which included Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris), and Kathleen Quinlan. The film also earned nine Academy Award nominations, winning two. Hanks was the voice of Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated feature Toy Story (1995). The following year when he directed his debut in the musical comedy That Thing You Do! The story of the fall and rising of a 1960s rock band. Hanks also plays the role of music producer. Time magazine's Richard Schickel called it "charming" and many reviewers agree that Hanks performance earned him a place among the top romantic-comedy stars the current generation.
